The Navy component of the Joint Task-Force, Operation Flush Out III, in Rivers at the weekend rescued all 35 passengers and crew on board a sinking Bonny-Ibanise passenger boat.

Navy Lieutenant Way Olabisi, the Information Officer of NNS Pathfinder, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt.

He said the boat was heading towards Port Harcourt when it had a problem at a location off Dawes Island and started to sink.

"At the point of sinking, Navy gunboats came to the rescue of the occupants of the boat," he said.

"The gunboats later conveyed the passengers and crew safely to Port Harcourt", Olabisi added.
