The Federal Government, has made plans to institute a tourism visa for tourists wishing to visit Nigeria.
This special visa, is in order to lessen travel difficulties and make tourism in the country pleasurable and less stressful.
Minister of tourism, culture and national orientation, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode while making this known, said it will further help in keeping track of all tourists visiting and leaving the country.
He said plans to initiate the tourism visa, have been in the pipeline for a very long time and if achieved, will boost tourism development and also enhance its operations in Nigeria. "We should be able to ensure that those who want to visit Nigeria, do so with the least discomfort", he explained.
He said, this is also why the Federal Government is making plans to implement aggressive promotion and marketing of the Nigerian tourism, to brand the Nigerian market in Europe and USA.
"In our effort to implement an aggressive promotion and marketing of Nigeria tourism, we are talking with African Travel Association (ATA) in our efforts to brand and market Nigeria. ATA will also be used to market Nigeria in Europe and USA", he stated.
The minister revealed that "within Africa, we will endorse travel groups and associations the way it was done in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Egypt. For Asia, there is an MoU with China to promote Sino-Nigeria tourism exchange, anchored on the huge inflow of business between the two countries".
According to him, it is hoped that a Nigerian cultural house, will be established in Beijing on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis, as a gateway to international tourism from that part of the world.

This is in his determination to make the tourism sub-sector highly productive and play a central role in international tourism, thus also serving as a contributor to the gross domestic product of the country.
