Relegation threatened Interior FC produced one of their best performance in the league to climb above the relegation zone for the first time with a 2-1 win over Sait Matty on Friday.
Interior got their first goal in the 15th minute of the game when Sait Matty defender Omar deflected Assan Mbye's spot kick into his own net. However, Sait Matty leveled in the 31st through Sanna Jobe, ending the first on even terms at the Serrekunda East grounds.
The winning goal came in the 63rd minute from Assan Mbye to wrap up the day for Interior before they were reduced to ten in the 78th minute. Ousainou Jatta was sent off for a second yellow.
At Serrekunda West on the same day, Gamtel also defeated Steve Biko by a lone goal. Buba Sanyang's strike in the 37th minute from Adnan Touray's long pass was the undoing for the Bakau club. Biko's Babucarr Jatta could have leveled for his side when Alpha Omar Jallow released him with a low pass moments later but Alhagie Sawaneh put up a brave effort to block the shot.
In the 67th minute Modou Musa Camara fired a low drive towards goals but Musa Camara kept well to deny Biko. And Gamtel striking power Kaba Jobe nearly doubled the score in the 76th but Lamin Samateh was timed well to clear his line.
The other matches Sunday between Samger and Seaview at Serrekunda East ended 2-0 in favour of Samger. And at Serrekunda West, GPA and Hawks played a goalless draw.
