A PDP chieftain in Sokoto State, Alhaji Muktari Mapai, yesterday called on the people to pray for the success of Governor Aliyu Wamakko's administration.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto, Mapai said: "Governor Wamakko has good intentions for the people and he should be supported by all.

"We have nothing to show in terms of democracy dividends all this while, as the previous administration particularly failed to carry along the governed," he said.

Mapia described Wamakko as "a true and committed leader who has shown considerable concern for the people's plight and aspirations".

He cited the governor's release of N2 billion as loans to entrepreneurs as an initiative that would foster the state's socio-economic development.

He noted that Wamakko had been implementing policies and programmes which would improve the people's lives.

He said that the governor had achieved a lot, particularly in the area of human development, noting that the people were already enjoying the benefits of good governance.

Mapia stressed the need for the people to support the government, saying that the administration was determined to enhance their well-being through sound policies.
