Former Super Eagles Head Coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde will take charge of the NFA team that will confront a selection of Benue State Government top officials in a high-profile novelty football match coming up in Makurdi on Thursday.

The septuagenarian trainer, who steered the Super Eagles at the 2002 World Cup finals in Korea/Japan, will be in charge of a team that will consist of NFA Chairman, Sani Lulu Abdullahi (a former college star), 1st Vice Chairman Amanze Uchegbulam and Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi amongst others.

The Benue State team will be led by Governor Gabriel Toruwa Suswam. The match will be curtain raiser for the Charity Shield game between Kano Pillars and Ocean Boys, which will also take place at the Aper Aku Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Association said yesterday that statements credited to ex -footballer Davidson Owumi that there is war looming in the horizon for Nigeria football were most unfortunate.

"As far as we can see, there is only peace, harmony and prosperity in the horizon for Nigerian football. In the life of every establishment, there is the time of teething troubles, time of serious troubles and time of unspeakable challenges. We have passed all those junctions," said NFA 1st Vice Chairman, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam.
