The Monrovia Magisterial Court at the Temple of Justice has charged four out of six disrobed police officers with armed robbery.

Officers T. Max Brown, Abel Tue, Bobbie Brown and Harry Blackie were charged Monday by the court for allegedly using a pistol to take away more than LD$11,000 and US$145.00 and other valuables belonging to residents of the Paynesville community.

According to a writ of arrest issued by the court, the defendants were charged based on complaints filed to it by and through the Ministry of Justice.

The writ indicated that the defendants on July 7, 2008, criminally connived and attacked the premises of the victims and took away their belongings by mal-handling and cuffing them.

Court records revealed that the four officers took away LD$4,000 and one 1110 Nokia cell phone valued at US$80.00 from private prosecutor William Cuput, while LD$4,000 and US$40.00 and a MP3 player from another victim identified as Augustine Gbeah.

Another private prosecutor, Joe Mulbah was also a victim of the armed robbers.

The officers allegedly held him at gun point and took away US$25.00 and LD$300.00, the Writ of Arrest noted.

The court said the alleged act of the defendants is in violation of the new Armed Robbery Act.

The four officers have been sent to the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial.
