Kampala — THE footballer of the year 2007-8 will receive a car and sh5m at the inaugural FUFA awards night on August 22.

The event is organised by marketing agency Anfield Communications who have announced a sh150m budget for 500 guests. The venue is yet to be named.

The official explained that they are still soliciting for sponsors to offer funding for the entire night or for the individual awards.

"A sponsor who will agree to take up 70% of the budget will get naming rights at the awards. But corporates can also associate themselves with individual awards," Nsubuga said.

Football fans, coaches, players and the media are expected to vote for their favourite footballers by sms through B-Mobile. To sms a vote, one is expected to choose a category and send the massage to 8778.

All Super League coaches and their assistants will cast secret ballots.

The votes and sms messages will then be subjected to a panel of judges from Kisaka and Company Auditing firm that will come up with the winners.
