Luanda — The second ordinary Pan-African Youth Congress will take place from July 29-31 in Brazzaville, Republic Congo, under the motto "African Youths, let us mobilise for Africa's challenges in the 21 Century".

According to a source from the National Youths Council (CNJ) that released the information to Angop, the Angolan delegation, comprising members of the council, will be leaving Friday for the venue of the event.

The event, according to the source, will focus on reinforcing capacities amongst the youths in order to enable them adjust to the new requirements and Africa's political and socio-economic realities, through the adoption of the new statutes of the organisation.

The congress will also seek to combine effort towards the drafting of a plan of action focused on the development of Africa, in a perspective of close cooperation with the African Union.

The organisation gained a new momentum in October 2003, when it adopted new statutes and designation, changing from Pan-African Youth Movement to Pan-Africa Youth Union (UPJ).

The UPJ, whose secretary general is the Angolan Maquento Sebastão Lopes, held its first congress in November 2003, in Windhoek, Namibia.

The purpose of the organisation is to implement the ideals and strategy of the African Union, that includes peace, democracy, sustainable development and continental integration.
