The Sudanese Ambassador to Eritrea, Mr. Salah Mohammed Al-Hassan, lauded the support of the people and Government of Eritrea in the Sudanese issue and asserted that relations between the two peoples is historical. He made the remarks in an interview with ERI-TV.

As regards the decision of the "International Criminal Court," the Ambassador pointed out that its indictment of President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir and other top Sudanese officials for 'human rights violations' in the Darfur region is illegal by all standards.

Stating that the Sudanese people and all political parties in the country are standing in unison against the court's decision and that many international bodies have condemned the indictment, Ambassador Salah Mohammed Al-Hassan said that Russia, China and Eritrea are standing alongside Sudan regarding the issue.

Indicating that the decision of the said court comes as a surprise, he explained that it is designed to undermine peace security and development in Sudan, as well as exploit the country's resources.

Ambassador Salah Mohammed Al-Hassan further stated that a meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Eritrea which took place on July 14 reached conclusion that the indictment not only constitutes an unprecedented and dangerous move not witnessed before but also runs counter to international laws that forbids the appearance of Heads of State in court. Condemning the dangerous conspiracies being weaved against the Sudanese people, the Ambassadors further called for legal action to counter such acts of conspiracy.
