Mufti Sheikh Ramadhan Mubajje yesterday opted to remain silent when he was given an opportunity by the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate to defend himself over allegations of illegally selling Muslim property.

Mubajje was flanked by his co-accused Edris Kasenene and city businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba, who also said nothing.

Magistrate Margaret Tibulya had told them that they could remain silent or give defence in which case they should be ready for cross-examination.

Asked what he preferred, Mubajje said: "To keep quiet. Everything we did was with the approval of the executive committee."
