Katsina State House of Assembly has initiated dialogue between the state government and Katsina State chapter of the NUT. The meeting is aimed at ending the four-week long industrial action embarked upon by the teachers.

The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ya'u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen, yesterday, noted that the House had invited the two disputing parties to a meeting to find ways of ending the strike.

The speaker added that as representatives of the people, they would exploit all options that could assist in resolving the dispute, adding "We will partner with government to end the strike."

Similarly, Alhaji Gwajo-Gwajo said that the House had discussed thoroughly on ways of bringing the teachers back to work.

He, therefore, called on parents to be patient and monitor the conduct of their children during the strike action, stressing that government was committed to the development of the education sector in the state. However, in a swift response, Chairman of the state chapter of the NUT, Comrade Ali Dahiru Daura, commended the house for its initiative.
