The FCT administration has concluded arrangement to organise training for Islamic/Christian Aids personnel on traffic control and management.

The FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, who made this revelation at the weekend in Abuja said the initiative will go a long way in reducing traffic problems being encountered during worship/prayer sessions on Fridays and Sundays respectively in some parts of the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

The minister stated that the religious aids personnel would also receive training on parking of vehicles within the vicinity of Mosques/Churches during prayer sessions to reduce their effect on traffic flow by other road users.

Umar revealed that invitation letters had already been dispatched to religious bodies in the territory to nominate their aids personnel to the FCT administration for such training.

According to him, the Directorate of Road Traffic Services would conduct the training in accordance with traffic rules and regulation as well as municipal laws in order not to allow the situation degenerate during such sessions.

He warned operators of unpainted commercial vehicles (Kabu-Kabu) to desist from converting open spaces within the Federal Capital City into illegal motor parks or face prosecution.

The minister cautioned that any operator interested in plying Abuja roads to officially register such vehicles to ensure that the security in the territory is fortified in the interest of all; adding that criminals take advantage of such unregistered vehicles to perpetuate their nefarious activities.

Umar also urged them to stop taking the laws into their hands by attacking Road Traffic Officers (VIO) on duty; saying that any one caught will be arrested and prosecuted.

His words, "The FCT administration is assiduously working to improve the service delivery of the Abuja Green Cabs within the Federal Capital City".

The FCT boss remarked that officials of the FCT administration recently met with members of the Mini Bus Section of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) for the seamless introduction of the Abuja Mini Bus Scheme.
