Nigeria: Afribank Receives Best Supportive Bank Award

Lagos — Afribank Nigeria Plc has received the "Best Supportive Bank Award" from the Management of Omatek Computers Plc. The Award was presented to Afribank by Omatek to mark its 21 years of computer business in Nigeria.

The bank emerged the winner of the award among other financial institutions for its outstanding support initiatives in the implementation of the Computer for All Initiative programme of the Federal Government.

The Managing Director/CEO of Omatek Computers Plc, Mrs. Florence Seriki, said that Afribank distinguished itself in project financing through a unique blend of its business processes and the implementation of best business practices in banking. He listed efficient service delivery, competitive pricing, convenient pay back structure and offer of financial advisory services as unique value propositions that stood the bank out.

Mrs. Seriki noted further that Afribank's understanding of the business was unique and it is responsible for the public patronage of the CaNI project in Nigeria today.

Mrs. Seriki stated that Afribank's support has aided the firm's expansion and capacity building and that t Omatek would expand its operations to other African countries soon, acquire showrooms, appoint franchises and open service centres nationwide.

Afribank and Omatek,had in the last one year partnered Delta, Abia, Cross Rivers, Ogun States and Auchi Polytechnic to provide computer sets for civil servants and staff. An initial sum of N1.5billion was provided to Omatek Computers to grow its business.

About 10,000 computers have already being supplied by the bank under the scheme with a projected plan of another 10,000 this year. Afribank has also set aside another N1billion for the next phase of the project.

Mr. Sebastian Adigwe, Group Managing Director/CEO of Afribank thanked the Management of Omatek Computers for the public acknowledgment of the giants strides the bank had made in the CaNI project, assuring that the award would propel it to improve on its support service to all stakeholders.

He added that Afribank would continue to encourage Nigerians to join the knowledge economy by empowering them to have easy access to computers

Mr. Adigwe noted that Afribank, through CaNI, was committed to building a new generation of Nigerians that would utilize the information technology to grow their businesses.
