Former Cranes coach Laszlo Csaba has refuted claims by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) that he walked out on his contract.
The Hungarian left two weeks ago for Scotland and was given three days, yesterday being the last, to explain why he absconded from duty or else face action from Fifa.
Fufa wants Csaba to compensate them with $200,000 (about Shs330m).
" We wrote to him but he is yet to respond. We are waiting up till the end of today (yesterday) and if he fails then we shall not hesitate in taking the matter to our superiors," Fufa president Lawrence Mulindwa said yesterday.
Yet the claims of desertion have been refuted by Csaba, who was quoted in an interview with Scottish newspaper The Scotsman as saying, "I know it was not easy for them to lose a good coach like me but I had no option but to quit. Fufa failed to meet its bargain of the contract many times.
Even before I came to Scotland I spoke with the president and he told me, 'Okay, if you want to go, we can't keep you. We don't want to cut your career, you've done a very good job here and after negotiations you can go to Hearts.'"
Csaba also said that his former assistant Jackson Mayanja would not be joining him at Hearts of Midlothian.
