Luanda — Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, pays homage to Teta Lando and greets the mourning family
Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, paid Wednesday in Luanda, a homage to veteran musician, Alberto Teta Lando, who passed away on July 14 this year, in Paris, of cancer.
Accompanied by the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) speaker, Roberto de Almeida, and other personalities from various walks of the society, José Eduardo dos Santos bowed before the casket, at the mourning ceremony that took place in Cidadela sports pavilion.
In an environment of pain and consternation, the national anthem was heard, before president José Eduardo dos Santos greeted the mourning family of Alberto Teta Lando, whose remains will be buried at 1:00 pm at "Alto das Cruzes" cemetery in Luanda.
In a message to the family, the president mentioned that "Alberto Teta Lando's death constitutes an irreparable loss, not only for his family but also for the Angolan nation he loved and tried to make immortal in his beautiful songs.
"Teta Lando was a big talented musician and famous singer, who during decades wrote songs that enriched our cultural patrimony, therefore, he is considered as a notable Angolan composer," the Angolan statesman stressed.
The message adds that "on my behalf and of my wife, may I express our heartfelt sympathy to the mourning family, friends and fans for the musician's death."
