Nigeria: Rangers Get Continental Target

22 July 2008

Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has charged the new board of Rangers International to make sure and win a continental ticket at the end of the coming season.

Chime told the board that they have a lot to do to return the team to winning ways.

"I want to thank you for accepting to serve on the board of Rangers. The club means a lot to the people of Enugu and the Igbos in general.

"I want you to work hard to bring honour to the State. But most importantly, I want you to ensure that the team gets a continental ticket next year.

"I want to pledge Government support for you and I also want to assure that you will not lack anything in this fight to take Rangers to greater heights.

"The work is enormous, but I believe that you are capable of doing your best in the new season.

"I want you to win the league or the FA Cup and see how I will surprise everybody. The sign on fees and other outstanding salaries and allowances of the players would be paid before the league starts.

"The Rangers office will be repaired and the regressing of the stadium will start soon. I have no doubt in the ability of the members of the board to raise the standard of the team," Chime said.

Chairman of the new board, Sam Onyishi thanked the Governor and promised that they will work hard to bring back the lost glory of the club.
