THE district will receive sh1.1b for the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) this financial year, the chief administrative officer, Henry Makumbi, has said.

Addressing the new NAADs coordinators at the district headquarters recently, Makumbi said 15 sub-counties would access the money, unlike last year when only four benefited.

He urged the coordinators to exercise transparency to ensure value for the money.

Under the new programme, he said, the agriculture extension officers would provide advisory services instead of contracting private firms.

Makumbi appealed to the sub-county chiefs, who implement the programme on behalf of the extension workers, not to interfere with the work of the coordinators.

"If there is a problem, write to us instead of fighting."

The district chairman, Haji Badru Kabega, warned residents against frustrating government programmes. He said through NAADs, the Government is implementing the Bonna Bagaggawale programme.
