Africa: AFDB to Fund Health Programme

Kampala — THE Africa Development Fund is to fund a consultant for a Sexual and Reproductive Health programme.

The programme is under the Health Sector Strategic Plan Project (HSSPP 2). The African Development Fund is the lending arm of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

"The Ministry of Health has set a target for the health system performance through the Health Service Strategic Plan 2 (2005/2010) and sub-sectoral targets. The districts and lower administrative and community levels must translate the programme into reality on the ground."

"So, the HSSPP2 (2007/2012) will carry out reproductive health interventions in 10 districts of south-western Uganda and mental health interventions throughout Uganda spearheaded by a technical assistant," a procurement website said.

The health consultant will lead implementation of a training programme in the districts and coordinate mechanisms to scale up the roadmap of accelerating reduction of maternal, natal mortality and probity.
