Uganda: Law Council Clears Pentecostal University

23 July 2008

Kampala — THE Law Council has allowed students of Uganda Pentecostal University in Fort Portal to undertake the post-graduate bar course at the Law Development Centre (LDC) in Kampala.

In a recent letter to the university, signed by Prof. Frederick Ssempebwa, the council said it had made the decision after inspecting the university last year. The letter states that the council will continue to monitor the Law degree programme at the university. In 2006, the university sued LDC for refusing to admit its students.

However, the council won the case. When the university went to the Court of Appeal, it took the intervention of minister Fred Ruhindi, to ask the parties to settle the case out of court.
