The National Council for Arts and Culture has called on chief executives of culture in the Country to work towards the establishment of cultural industries and markets in the states and local governments of the federation, as approved and reiterated in the last meetings of the National Council on Tourism, Culture and National Orientation and CEC in November, 2007 and in February, 2008 respectively.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the on-going 30th meeting of the chief executives of culture of the federation in Enugu , the Executive Director /CEO of National Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. M .M Maidugu, said the establishment of cultural industries and markets at the state and local government levels would go a long way in repositioning the sector.

He advised the chief executives not to loose sight of other issues that were discussed and approved at the CEC meeting, saying "as experts in cultural administration, there was need to combine their experiences and skills in making inputs towards the realisation of development goals".

The CEO explained that the meeting was convened to explore ways of making the 2008 NAFEST which will be hosted by Enugu , "a successful event".
