Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is on the verge of joining Italian club Inter Milan, according to media reports.
The reports from Italy suggest he will complete a US$25M move to Inter Milan on Thursday.
The 23-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Italian champions after giving up on signing Frank Lampard from Chelsea.
He is going nowhere, nowhere at all
Muntari is regarded by Inter coach Jose Mourinho as the best alternative for Lampard.
The reports comes even though Muntari's English club Portsmouth two days ago rejected talk that they have agreed to release the player.
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp said: "We haven't spoken to anybody and I don't want to sell Sulley anyway."
"He's a top player. We don't have to let anyone leave and we definitely don't want to. He is going nowhere, nowhere at all."
Muntari himself last week declined to comment when asked about a return to Italy last week suggesting he wants to stay in England.
But the prospect of playing in the Uefa Champions League could sway him to clinch the deal.
He has excelled since moving from Italian club Udinese to join Portsmouth at the start of last season.
