Uganda's Nicollette will face off against Zimbabwe's Eric in the IDOLS final after Trinah (Zambia) fell during the final results show on M-Net (DStv Channel 101/2) last night (Monday July 21).
IDOLS Mentor, Kawesa Richard had said that Eric was a shoe-in for the final, but couldn't choose between Nicollette and Trinah as his competition for the big show.
The judges also weighed in with their opinions - and were unanimous that Trinah and Eric would be the two to contest the final. After a brief Q&A with the contestants, Lebo brought down the lights on the results show for the final time.
He called Nicollette up to join him on stage for a second week in a row - but her only task this time was to tell viewers that the results would be announced after a commercial break. After a tense few minutes, he called Trinah up on stage, recapping her performances and judges' comments from the previous night's show. Nicollette was up next, followed by Eric - and once more Lebo reminded them of how they had done on Sunday night. Proving that he's not entirely cruel, Lebo broke the news immediately that Eric was to be the first finalist for Sunday night's show - leaving the ladies to battle it out as Kawesa had predicted.
They offered each other final words of encouragement and a hug, before Lebo broke the news that Nicollette was to be Eric's final partner. After a stunned second of silence, Nicollette joined Eric on the side of the stage while Trinah looked back at her time on the show in a video montage.
The voting this week differs from the usual format, in that viewers have all week to vote for their favourite! The lines opened straight after the final results show and will remain open 24 hours a day until Saturday July 26 at 12.00CAT!
