German club Arminia Bielefeld are set to strengthen their squad with yet another player with a South African Premier Soccer League connection.

The PSL's former top scorer Chris Katongo is being linked with a 1,5- million Euro (about R18-million) move to the club from Denmark's Brondby, where he has spent the past 18 months after moving from Jomo Cosmos.

Bielefeld, where Rowen Fernandez and Siyabonga Nkosi both play and where Sibusiso Zuma and former Kaizer Chiefs coach Emst Middendorp were also on the books last season, are seeking a replacement for Christian Eigler, the 24-year-old sold to Nuremburg for 1,6-million Euros.

Katongo (25), cost Brondby some 2-million Euros (R24-million) when he left Cosmos, German reports claim, but Bielefeld might have to pay only 1, 5-million.

Katongo has a contract in Denmark until 2010 but has not made the same impact that he achieved at Cosmos.

In 2006, Katongo scored 15 goals in as many games in the first half of the South African season before leaving for Denmark and still ended as the leading goal scorer in the PSL for the 2006/2007 campaign, even though he only played half the matches.

But at Brondby, Katongo managed just five goals in 27 appearances.
