Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabien McCarthy's decision to quit Maritzburg United, where he has been training, could be linked to reports surfacing today that he could be headed to Moroka Swallows.

Swallows' manager Bennet Mtshali has confirmed to KickOff.com that his team is interested in McCarthy (31), but refused to comment further, referring the website to club boss Leon Prins for further information and comment.

"We are interested, but I think Leon Prins is the right person to comment about this issue."

Efforts to contact Prins proved futile as he was in a meeting at the time of compiling this report.

It is understood that Bevan Fransman will be allowed to leave the club if he secures a move overseas and according to sources, his agents are looking to exploit this clause.

Should Fransman move, it will open the door for McCarthy.

Mtshali also disclosed to KickOff.com that former Bloemfontein Celtic striker Lebohang Kukame is still training with the team with a view to signing.
