Luanda — Angola is participating on July 23-26, in Maputo, Mozambique, in a meeting on Zambeze river basin, to debate the collaboration and effective co-ordination in development and management of shared water-related resources.
This was said to Angop, by a source from the Office of Exploitation of Middle Kwanza (Gamek) who is attending this meeting.
The Angolan delegation to this event is being led by the head of Department of Studies and Projects of the Ministry of Energy and Water Affairs, José Alves Salgueiros.
Topping the meeting's agenda are themes such as equitable sharing of benefits for utilization of shared water resources, equal and sustainable utilization of basin's water-related resources, efficacious use of water resources for present and future generations, environment's recognition as a water legitimate usage that maintains life.
The project aims at improving integrated management of water resources to make easy social and economic development and protection against floods, water resources pollution and environmental degradation of Zambeze hydro-graphic basin.
The meeting is sponsored by development agencies of Denmark, Sweden and Norway, countries that are also attending the session.
Zambeze river basin comprises Angola, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
