Angola: Bengo - Agriculture Minister Unveils Agrarian Development Institute

Angola's Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, Pedro Canga, on Thursday inaugurated in Caxito city, northern Bengo province, the premises of the Institute of Agrarian Development (IDA), under the Public Investments Programme (PIP).

Worth USD 12 million the infrastructure have as goal to provide better working and technical conditions to its staff in order to spur the region's agricultural and cattle breeding development.

Yet under PIP, the minister Pedro Canga handed over in the city, 25 tractors for foment and development of agricultural activity, taking into account production of food to fight famine and poverty among peasants.

Meanwhile, in the districts of Ambriz and Dembos, the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, offered two vehicles to the local farmers.

During his stay in Bengo, Pedro Canga visited the premises of the Chinese firm Sino Hidro, that has been rehabilitating 3,500 hectares of fertile lands and the local water-course, as well as toured Kissomeira co-operative, handing over small tools to peasants.
