Kampala — When she returned from France, where she had been on a self-imposed maternity leave sometime back, singer Iryn Namubiru said she was not planning to release any new songs this year.
She said she was in the country to quench her fans' thirst by performing at a few concerts but denied having any intentions of recording new songs.
However, after being asked by fans wherever she has performed as to when she is releasing a new song, Iryn has finally decided to cool the steam by releasing a new hit for her fans.
Namubiru recently stormed Henry Kiwuwa's Grayce studios and came out with a new hit titled, Nina Omwana. The song, which is categorised under the Afro Beat genre is another of Iryn's humorous hits, in which she sacarstically describes her lover's overall strength.
Iryn told Hangout that she had penned the song while still in France, but had intended to have it on her album, which she is slated to release early next year. "I have already written eight of the intended twelve songs that will make up my new album, but it hadn't crossed my mind to release any song around this time," she said.
Namubiru said she will go on to release one more hit mid next month, before she goes back to her original plan of releasing her album early next year. Asked if the hits come as a way of securing herself a nod in this year's Pearl of Africa Music (Pam) Awards, Iryn just laughed it off.
"By the way people should know that I'm not on the Pam fever, I'm just doing music for people, the best reward I am looking for right now is to get my fans allover the globe happy, as I raise my baby happily."
Namubiru is in the country for the next few weeks and will fly to South Africa and London to record a few hits in urban studios before she flies back to France to join her boyfriend.
