Ntinkalu Muslim Day and Boarding Primary School in Mayuge district has been closed after fire burnt a boy's dormitory on Tuesday night.
The fire, which started at around 8:30pm and lasted about 40 minutes, destroyed property worth sh53m, according to the Police.
The dormitory was housing 67 P7 pupils but no body was hurt because they were in classrooms attending preps.
Jamila Mutesi, who resides near the dormitory, suspected that the fire was caused by spirits.
"As I was cooking supper in the kitchen, which is a few metres away from the dormitory, I saw a shining object moving towards the building. In a few minutes, the dormitory was on fire." By the time the Fire Brigade arrived at the scene, the whole building and the pupils' property were destroyed.
As the residents looked on helplessly, a female P7 pupil (names withheld) fell on the ground jerking and started crying.
After a few minutes, a female former student of the school (names withheld), also arrived at the scene in Baitambogwe sub-county after running over 40kms.
Her parent's home is at Nakibizi in Njeru town council in Mukono district.
The girl, who was also reportedly possessed by demons, shouted in Lusoga: "Hedimasita aliwa? Twabakoba okututerezanga aye timututerezanga, lwaaki?"
Meaning: "Where is the headmaster? We told you to fulfill our needs but you haven't up to now, why?"
The headmaster, Patrick Bampalana, assured the anxious parents that the rituals would be conducted to cleanse the school.

The district Police commander, James Ejangu, said the Police would investigate the incident.
