Head of The Gambian MABA general construction company, Bakay Sanyang, has said works for the fixing of artificial turf at the Sierra Leone Football Academy, Kingtom, would be completed in 13-weeks time.
He made this assertion based on consideration that the weather would be favourable to them as they continue with the work which is still in its commencement stage.
Sanyang who is accompanied by five other experts said the work in Kingtom will go simultaneously with the other one at the Wusum ground in Makeni.
He however maintained that full work in that part of the country will commence next month.
Commenting on the soil, the Gambian contractor said the texture of the soil on both sides are not difficult to work on especially the one in Makeni saying it is one of the factors that would make the work go faster.
Sanyang further revealed that this will be his company's third assignment having fixed artificial turfs in The Gambia and Senegal.
According to Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Secretary General, Alimu Bah the project is funded by world football governing body, FIFA.
"We did not know any company in Sierra Leone that can fix artificial turf that is why FIFA offered MABA the job on bidding," Bah noted.
Speaking to Concord Sports, Secretary General of Ports Authority, Idrissa Tarawallie aka Mago said the fixing of the artificial turf will be helpful to the various clubs and the next coming league.
He said league matches would be played there thus relieving the National Stadium a bit.
