David Rurangirwa the new Director for Rwanda Development Gateway Centre, Huye.
The National University of Rwanda (NUR) has appointed Mr. David Rurangirwa as the new director for its Rwanda Development Gateway Centre (RDG) based in Huye District, Southern Province.
During the introduction event at the centre's Kigali bureau, Immaculate Bugingo, who has been the acting director for over five months and currently the RDG Content Coordinator, described Rurangirwa as innovative and ready to take the centre forward.
She also briefed the director on the centre's background and prospects and pledged the group's total commitment.
"Your fresh input will be vital for the centre to contribute to the university's mission of research, education and service to the people," said Bugingo.
Rurangirwa's appointment fills a void after the resignation of former director, Philbert Nsegimana, who served the centre for seven years as one of the pioneer members. He is now the Country Director for Voxiva.
"I'll try to make RDG contribute better to ICT for development, laying emphasis on poverty reduction by leveraging the power of information sharing," said Rurangirwa.
The Director's official responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the centre and representing RDG at the Rwanda Development Gateway Group (RDGG), NUR, and other bodies.
Rurangirwa is a Fulbright alumnus and holds an MS. in Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering emphasis) from Michigan State University.

He also holds a BSc. in Technology (Electronics and Computer Science) from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton and has worked in the ICT industry as an educator and consultant for over seven years.
