The Taifa Cup basketball championship will be staged in Dar es Salaam in October, officials have announced.
Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) secretary general Lawrence Cheyo made the announcement yesterday, but said sponsorship is yet to be secured.
Cheyo said the federation's executive committee would convene a meeting this weekend to select the host region, dates and tournament fixture.
And despite the sponsorship gap, preparations for the event are underway, he said.
Tanga region hosted the previous tournament won by star-studded Dar es Salaam region teams.
The Dar teams won titles for both men and women.
In a related development, TBF urged all affiliate regional associations to hold general elections before December 31.
Between now and the deadline, the regional associations will elect eligible leaders who will vote in the federation's general elections early next year.
