Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has warned members of the House Committee on oil sector probe, who might have any hidden agenda contrary to their terms of reference to simply resign the position.

Bankole, who recently inaugurated the committee to probe the nation's oil sector in the eight years of the Obasanjo administration, also cautioned the members to fear God while carrying out their national assignment, as they are assigned not to witch-hunt anybody.

This statement was confirmed by a member of the committee, Hon. Abba Anas Adamu (PDP-Jigawa) in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP in Abuja.

He said the committee was inaugurated to sanitise the oil sector.

"The speaker warned that, any one who has something different in his mind from what we are assigned to do, should absolutely resign from the committee. Otherwise, if found guilty of doing something else, will surely be exposed to the world, and must be dealt harshly", he stated. He said the speaker promised to allow them to carry out their responsibilities without any interference.

Hon. Anas therefore, added, "as I genuinely trust him, I will never allow myself to be used by any group or any quarter inside or outside the House to abandon or neglect my responsibility. Wallahi tallahi, I will never succumb to any pressure or inducement to forget our terms of reference. I have already warned my colleagues that, I will personally expose anybody who may attempt to smuggle personal interest during this proceeding. Integrity and due process must be our corner stone in the process!"
