Angola: Portuguese Community Debates Food Security in Lisbon

The works of the seventh summit of heads of State and Government of the Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (CPLP) started Friday in Lisbon, Portugal, discussing issues related to peace, food security and the organisation's functioning.
The summit will also debate and pass the Bills on Luanda Declaration and other on "Portuguese Language: A common patronage, a global future", among other issues.
Angola is participating in the meeting with a delegation led by the Premier, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, on behalf of the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos.
At the opening ceremony, Portugal's President, Anibal Cavaco Silva, highlighted the positive role performed by CPLP since its creation 12 years ago.
He said CPLP also contributes to the reinforcement of values such as peace, democracy and law-abiding state, development and social justice, enshrined on organisation's constitutive declaration.
The Portuguese president highlighted the strategic importance of organisations such as CPLP that allow States to work in a concerted way at the international arena, defending the strengthening of the community to effectively face the current challenges.
Anibal Cavaco Silva said he hopes that the meeting analyses the co-operation areas among all States with concrete results.

CPLP comprises Angola, Brazil, Cabe Verde, Guinea Bissau, East Timor, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.
