Zimbabwe: Dynamos Chiefs' Homes Attacked

THE new Dynamos Football Club board of directors has warned the club's dismissed executive against refusal to vacate office, saying it would be in defiance of the club's hierarchy and constitution.
This comes amid disclosure this week that the homes of new board chairman George Shaya and treasurer Ernest Kamba were attacked by known assailants in Dynamos circles.
The assailants allegedly first targeted Kamba's house on Tuesday evening breaking a verandah screen before being chased away by security details who had knowledge of the attacks.
At Shaya's Glen Norah house, the same day the attackers were apprehended by police who had been tipped off about the intended attack. A police report was made leading to the arrest of one member of the mob who was still in police custody by Wednesday afternoon.
"It shows failure when people resort to violence," Kamba said this week.
"We are blocked from entering our offices at Eastlea by bouncers manning the place. We are old men, we cannot confront bouncers. We have support of the constitution and will get the legal way to the office."
Kamba said the letter of dismissal to the Patson Moyo-led executive bars them from any further handling of the club's affairs according to the club constitution. The executive was relieved of its duties because the Shaya-led board said it was not constitutionally appointed and represented.
"This is a very serious human resources issue," he said.
"It involves handling of company funds. If you continue to handle finances of a company that has dismissed you, it amounts to criminality. If they continue doing that police will have to arrest them and lay charges."
Kamba a former, Dynamos player, said the new executive chaired by Simon Sachiti, has already started carrying out official club duties.
He said: "The new executive is already working. On Sunday we will have a public display of that when we will run the Lancashire Steel game. Anyone who interferes with that process will have to know that they are criminals and will be treated as such."

The other members of the executive are vice-chairman Stanley Chirambadare, secretary Ignatius Pamire, and treasurer Mike George. Laban Kandi is a committee member.
