Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Dan Semake has secured a deal with First Division African Warriors, ending a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"What matters most to me is that I can play at last," says the 29-year-old defender.

Semake's career promised much while he was a rookie at Sundowns during 2000, then it all went downhill.

He went from Chloorkop to the now-defunct Hellenic and then back to the Brazilians again.

After that he resurfaced at Vasco da Gama in the First Division before a move back to the Premiership in the colours of Black Leopards.

Ambitious FC AK lured him to Mabopane, but he played only a handful of games before packing his bags. Last season he was with Teboho Moloi briefly at Vodacom Regional League side Mafube United.

Semake is confident of rekindling his form of yesteryear.

"We are a respectable side with a lot of talent. I am confident of our chances of pushing for qualification to the Premiership. We have to maintain our commitment. In addition, we have to approach the upcoming season with a positive mindset."
