With Kadiri Ikhana having left his position after guiding Kano Pillars to their first league title, the club have made it clear they will only employ a head coach who will carry on from where the former Enyimba coach left off.

Pillars Media Officer Shehu Adamu told KickOffNigeria.com that a lot of coaches have submitted their curriculum vitae to the management but they will only employ one who is ready to continue with what Ikhana started last season.

"If we are not able to get Ikhana back into the team, the coach that will take over from him must make sure that all the good things he started that gave us the League trophy are not discarded.

"We have our two assistants in Salisu Yusuf and Ahmadu Pele. They will act as people that will screen the coaches.

"Since they have been with Ikhana, they know exactly what to expect from him. So when the new coach comes, we have a way of finding out whether they will rubbish everything Ikhana has put in place or are ready to build on it.

"That way we can be sure that there will be continuity in the team. We don't want any coach that will come and start afresh as it might take him a long time to fashion out a winning formula for the team."

Adamu gave an assurance that a new boss will be appointed soon. "I must say that very soon, a new coach will be named for the team," Adamu said.
