Former Black Stars defender Sam Johnson has vowed to make the most of his first steps into management with Accra Hearts of Oak after he was appointed as Kosta Papic's assistant.
Johnson took charge of the start of Hearts' pre-season training on Wednesday as he run the rule over potential Hearts players and says he just thrilled by the chance to give back to a club who gave him the chance to realize his football dreams.
If Hearts believe I can impart some knowledge then I consider it a great honour.
"I am proud to be back at this club who have given me the opportunity to hone my coaching skills, he said.
"It is one of the greatest wish of any player to have the chance of a coaching career with a club they love and represented.
"I have acquired a lot of experience in the game and if Hearts believe I can impart some knowledge then I consider it a great honour. Now it is up to me to prove them right."
Johnson made his name with Accra Hearts of Oak between 1991-1995 on the local scene before heading for a career in Europe.
There he played for Kalamata in Greece, Anderlecht of Belgium before settling down in Turkey in 1998 where he played for Gazientespor, Fernebahce and Kayserispor.
On the international scene, he made his debut for Ghana in the qualifiers for the 1992 Nations Cup qualifiers before going on to play at the 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2000 Nations Cup.

Now he is hoping another start at Hearts this time on the managerial things will lead to equally great things.
