Kampala — GTV, the new satellite television that launched on the African continent over a year ago has claimed it is preferred by five out of every seven customers.
The company's popularity was established by a recent report produced by Balancing Act, the leading African research company specializing in the media and communications sectors.
"We respect that people have a choice as to how they spend their money for entertainment and we are incredibly proud that so many African families are choosing GTV," Mr Julian McIntyre, founder and managing director said a statement released July 24.Demand for satellite TV has grown vigorously across Africa as people savor a broad range of high quality television channels at relatively low prices.
More, the players have also introduced various service packages that fit the thread-bare budgets that are predominate African societies. The company currently offers its service in 20 markets across the continent and intends to expand to over 30 countries by year-end.
GTV has activated over 100,000 subscribers and estimates that they have over 1.25 million regular viewers on a monthly basis. Research carried out by GTV estimates that the pay-TV market across the continent will grow to over $3bn (Shs5.1 trillion) by 2015.

I think it is a good news for people over the africa continent. Because more will have real "multichioce" of TV programmes. DSTV has been bring quite a lot pleasure to people. I hope GTV will bring more. I am looking forward to it.
