A young barber simply identified as Israel has been shot dead in the residence of a popular cement dealer and high profile politician, Mr. Ubong Obot, before the money magnate was abducted by kidnappers who are presently demanding N30 million ransom for his release.
Israel who met his untimely death at the country home of the abducted businessman cum politician in Asong Ama Estate, in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital while barbing the kidnapped politician, is the owner of a barbing saloon at No. 19 Iboko Street, Uyo.
The business mogul believed to be the financier of many politicians, especially Hon. Emmananuel Obot his senior brother and former personal assistant to the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, it is believed, was abducted for reasons not unconnected with the ensuing legal battle on the judgement delivered by the elections tribunal on the Uyo Federal House of Representive elections between his brother and a serving member of the National Assembly.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, who Vanguard gathered has recently spent so much of the taxpayers money settling kidnappers at a meeting with key family members of the abducted politician expressed bitterness at the development, even as the kidnappers demanded that the ransom should not be paid in mint naira notes to avoid being given marked notes.
The kidnappers who left their phone number after picking the politician are suspected to be indigenes of the state.

The state police commissioner Mr. Mike Zuokumor who confirmed to vanguard in a telephone conversation that he was aware of the incidence promised to track down the kidnappers and apprehend them within a very short time.
Meanwhile the state governor is said to be having sleepless nights as the move to impeach the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ignatius Edet intensifies.
The members who have accused the speaker of missappropriating about 750 million naira in the last three months during a meeting with the Governor demanded that except the speaker resigns honourably, he would be impeached as they have already secured the signatures of twenty three out of twenty six members to nail the speaker.
Although the speaker, a member disclosed has dolled out 360 million naira to pacify the members, the initiators of the impeachment have vowed that the speaker can never be spared this time around after being paradoned for three times.
