Liberia: Bill Clinton Arrives This Week

AllAfrica aggregates reports from Africa's news media. This is an article from the Liberian press. It is not a report by AllAfrica.

Former United States President, Bill Clinton, is expected in the country Saturday for one day visit. This marks his second visit to the country since the sitting of the Ellen-led administration.

Presidential Press Secretary, Cyrus Badio told reporters yesterday that the former President will hold discussions with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as well as other stakeholders in the country.

Besides, he will hold a press conference before departing during his visit to Liberia.

He is coming to enforce his initiative against the deadly disease AIDS, which he began since leaving office about seven years ago.

Clinton, who is regarded as the most revered president of the US in the 21st Century, will use his trip to appeal against the high price for drugs. He has been campaigning across Africa, Europe, Asia and other places for international attention for AIDS victims.

The writer states that Bill Clinton “… is regarded as the most revered president of the US in the 21st Century”; this is a most egregious error. The only ones who revere him are the extreme left wing liberals. In case the writer missed it, Clinton was impeached, one of only two presidents in the history of the United States to undergo this. As far as the (actual) most revered president of the 20th century, I would postulate that it is virtual tie between Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1933-1945) and Ronald Wilson Reagan (1981-1989).

Bill Clinton was revered by left wingers, swingers and high rolling contributors. To most of us that worked for the US Govt he was a huge joke. He cheated at everything he did and when he had "truck stop sex" with the young ladies in his employ, he lost all credibility in the eyes of the military and law enforcement and most Christian citizens in this country. Beware Liberia....you never know what gifts Bill Clinton is bearing.

I am a Liberian living in the USA.By the way, I am working for the US Government, too. I really dont care about what Clinton did in his private life during his presidency. His wife, as far as I am aware, has forgiven him and they are seemingly living happier lives. Bill Clinton, is a compassionate person. He said the role of politics is to give people the tools they need to help themselves. Let us give credit where credit is due, instead of advocating "truck stop sex", which is irrelevent in this discussion. Get over it; his wife has!
