One of Africa's most sought after speakers Professor Amos Sawyer yesterday said in Monrovia that he was looking forward to participating in the Concord Times' Anniversary Lecture slated for August 15 in Freetown.

Professor Sawyer, a former Liberian president, is the Guest Speaker at the Lecture organised to honour the memory of James Oguoguo, an editor of the paper, murdered by rebels in January 1999.

At the Lecture scheduled to hold August 15, Professor Sawyer will speak on the challenges of development in a post-conflict situation.

He is highly experienced on issues pertaining to good governance and has an international reputation as an advocate for good governance in Africa.

In the past, he has given a number of lectures both at the world's most respected academic institutions and at numerous important international fora.

He currently heads Liberia's prestigious Governance Reform Commission, a think-tank that is looking into various governance-related issues and makes recommendations to government.

Former President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah has accepted to chair the Concord Times Lecture while President Ernest Koroma is expected to officially declare it open.

Those to be invited to the Lecture include cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, Heads of Parastatals, diplomatic corps, students, academics, media practitioners, civil society and traditional leaders.
