With the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games drawing nearer, Sierra Leonean born athlete, Eunice Barber who is now competing for France, will miss what could have been her fifth Olympic Games appearance.
French fans had little to cheer on Saturday as their former heptathlon and long jump world champion Eunice Barber saw her season hit a new low by ending at the bottom of the heap in the long-jump in Monaco.
The 33-year-old who was born in Sierra Leone failed to qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games last Saturday after her fall by 18 centimeters to reach the qualifying mark for the long jump at the French national championships.
Barber was the heptathlon world champion in 1999. She then became long jump queen in 2003 but this time she came tenth and ranked last with a jump of 6.27 meters which was won by Portugal's Naide Gomes for a year best mark at 7.12 meters besting the 7.04 she shared with Russian Lyudmila Kolchanova.
