Katchiungo — About 22,716 children, below the age of five, were immunised against poliomyelitis in Katchiungo district, 64 kilometres from Huambo city, during the broad vaccination campaign, held from July 25 to 27, countrywide.
This number corresponds to more than 2,492 children in comparison to the initial estimate, ANGOP learnt this Thursday from the head of the municipal health division, Paulino Kulivela.
The official considered positive the involvement of chieftains, religious and administrative entities that contributed to the success of the referred campaign, which counted on the participation of 46 vaccination teams.
He also stated that the vaccination campaign also covered every village of the three communes that make up the district, in this central plateau region of Huambo.
