Harare — CHIBUKU Road to Fame - the country's music talent searching show - is expected to go regional beginning next year.
Delta Beverages public relations and promotions manager Amen Makonese said they intend to go regional in Sadc countries that sell Chibuku brand of opaque beer.
"After the Sorghum meeting held in Victoria Falls last weeks and the subsequent Victoria Falls and Matabeleland North provincial finals held in the resort town we resolved of a possibility of holding regional finals.
"Chibuku is brewed in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana - so next year there might be regional finals where winners from the four countries will compete for top honours in the region," Makonese said.
Makonese said top musicians from the four Sadc countries would then provide entertainment at the regional finale.
"We are still mapping the issue but regional finals for this year won't be possible but next year something is coming up.
"We want to give Chibuku Road to Fame a further step by making a regional showcase.
"Winners from their respective countries automatically qualify for the regional finale," Makonese said.
If Chibuku Road to Fame goes regional it would be the second talent searching shows involving live bands after Music Cross Roads.
Music Cross Roads is held annually in the region where winners in different countries converge for a showdown.
Meanwhile, Victoria Falls Express and Bulawayo's Say band were chosen as Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provincial winners in competitions held last week.
Victoria Falls Express won in the provincial finals held in the resort town while Say Band got the nod in the finals held in Bulawayo.
Sungura musician Gift Amuli provided entertainment at the Victoria Falls finals where Cuthbert Maziwa of the Eye Q joined him.
This weekend the show rolls to the Gold City of Kadoma where one winner in three provinces taking part will make it to the grand finale scheduled for September 27 at the Glamis Arena.
The Kadoma show will be held at Kadoma Leisure Centre in Monomotapa suburb.
Sungura giants Tongai Moyo and Alick Macheso will provide entertainment at the grand finale where they will be sharing the stage for the first time in a full year.
