Zimbabwe: Moyo Named Grain Tigers Head Coach

1 August 2008

Harare — STRUGGLING Pacific Northern Region Division One side Grain Tigers have appointed veteran mentor Maxwell "Malume" Moyo as their coach in a bid to turn the club's fortunes.

The Harare side are 17th on the standings and have already lost 12 matches this season.

Club chairman Emson Mandizvidza said they engaged an experienced coach whom they believe can help the club.

"We are focussing on finishing on a respectable position and we will build up for next year.

"We will not release any players or the change the technical department come year end because we want continuity.

"We have taken a deliberate effort to work with the youngsters so we needed someone who understands them and who can work and nurture young talent so that we contribute to football development.

"In the first half, we fared badly due to many factors and the bulk of our matches were away at hostile conditions for the youngsters who could not cope," said Mandizvidza.

Moyo is being assisted by Noah Kapini.

Meanwhile, leaders Black Rhinos would be hoping to bounce back from last week's defeat at the hands of rivals Mwana Africa when they travel to Glendale for a date against Tsungubvi on Sunday.

Perennial campaigners Douglas Warriors have had an indifferent run of late and club president Douglas Tanyanyiwa had to read the riot act to

his players before Tuesday's training session.

Tanyanyiwa believes there could have been some dirty games being played by some of his key players and ordered those who were no longer interested in playing for the team to leave.

Noone left.

Douglas Warriors play the Aces Youth Academy at the Motor Action Sports Club tomorrow.

Northern Region: All matches kick off at 3 pm unless stated.
