Some of Namibia's hottest artists will gang up in Windhoek for the first leg of the Namibia AIDS Awareness (NAA) Tour, which kicks off with a spectacular live music show at the Zoo Park tomorrow, starting 18h00.
The profits from the event, which will be accompanied by similar concerts in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, will go to the Orphans Emergency Fund at Catholic Aids Action (70 per cent) while the remaining 30 per cent will be paid to the artists as appearance fees.
The concert, which boasts an excellent mixture of local musicians, is organised by Valentina Nghiwete of NAA and local fans are in for a top-class show.
The event will see some of Namibia's top kwaito, Oviritje, R&B and hip-hop artists in action, while our own Dance Africa champion, Stanley Mareka, will strut his stuff on the dance floor.
The kwaito genre will be represented by multi-award winner Gazza and the fast-rising Sunny Boy of Green House Entertainment, who received a Channel O nomination in the Best Kwaito category recently.
Also performing will be the new kids on the block, Exit & Mushe, and the exciting Uno Boy and Legg-Ghetto.
Afro-pop fans can also look forward to a musical extravaganza - the bombastic Big Ben, the velvet-voiced Tequila and the livewire Verdicts have all volunteered their talents for the event.
Rapper Jericho, recently returned from a spell in the United Kingdom, will be just too happy to reunite with his hip-hop fans while the Oviritje fans will be entertained by the dynamic Ongoronomundu and Otjinate.
Kizomba star Atushe will be in action too, while Max and vibrant kwasa-kwasa group 4 x 4 Too Much Power will be setting the Zoo Park on fire and crowd favourites VM 6 will be soothing the heat with their superb vocals.
The event will also see a few up-and-coming artists like Chika doing their thing while the United States-based Toucy will act as master of ceremonies for the event.
The second leg of the local tour will be staged at Bennie's Entertainment Park at Ongwediva on Saturday, August 29.
The entrance fee is N$45 in advance and N$55 at the door for both events.
Tickets for the two shows are available from Universal Sounds in Windhoek and Bennie's Park at Ongwediva.
