Angola: Olympic Games - Team Debuts in Beach Volleyball, Canoeing in Beijing

1 August 2008

Luanda — The sports of beach volleyball and canoeing are the novelties for the Angolan delegation that shall participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, to be held from August 08 to 24, in China.

Canoeing shall be represented by Fortunato Domingos, whilst beach volleyball shall have the pair Manucho/Morais, after having qualified three weeks ago.

In this seventh Angolan presence in these kind of events, plate shooting will not be part of team due to the lack of the special wild card invitation and judo did not obtain the minimum points needed to qualify for the Olympics.

This way, the country will be represented in the men's basketball, ladies handball, athletics, swimming, beach volleyball and canoeing. Angola debuted in the Olympic Games in 1980 in Moscow (Russia).
