Asmara — The 31st Conference of the Organization of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers (OESAI) that was held here in Asmara concluded yesterday. Delegates from over 15 countries participated at the conference under the theme: "Impact of Regional Conflicts in the Insurance Industry."
Following report on the annual accounts, the participants held extensive discussion on ways of dealing with the allocation of insurance among members and raising membership through reforming the organization's constitution, in addition to assessing the activities carried out in 2007.
The conference decided that a meeting of the executive body should be held next November, while the general meeting convenes in Uganda in 2009.
The Secretary General of the OESAI and a number of participants of the conference from different countries commended the hospitality of the Eritrean people and the prevailing peace and security in the country. Moreover, they expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the conference.
Representatives of Insurance companies from Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, the UK, Zimbabwe, India, Ghana and others attended the two-day conference.
