Charles Mipakuko, 27, is cutting out his image as an upcoming Afro-beat artiste, although not in the footsteps of his idol Paul Kafeero (RIP).
The Omukyalawo and Mpuliriza singer is yet to become a household name in the music fraternity but he is fast catching up with the lost time by making the right moves on the movers and shakers of the entertainment scene.
If the touch of big time producers like Kiwuuwa and Dandaloo matters in making a successful artiste, then Mipakuko is on track, as he has been working closely with the two to come up with his yet to be named premier album. He is full of praise for Henry Kiwuuwa and Ras Mali, who have been instrumental in his career.
The three songs that Mipakuko has done at Kiwuuwa's studio are harmonious and a good listen. "Kiwuuwa is one, if not the best producer you can work with for an upcoming artiste. He gives you time and work for you as he would do to Chameleone or Iryn," he says of the award-winning audio producer.
Mipakuko looks optimistic at the many challenges facing him as an upcoming artiste. "Music is not a burden for me since I do it as my passion and not for money."
Maybe because he has gone through a lot to reach where he is today, but Mipakuko's songs come plain without any attempt to hide the message as is the norm today with upcoming artistes packaging their messages in obscure words like Mazongoto, Embooko and Gear Leaver.
In his song Omukyalawo, he recounts what he calls a true story of how his friend mistreated his wife. She ended up leaving him, yet he should have paid more attention to her needs.
