The first sports betting company in the country, Mercury International over the weekend donated a public announcement system worth Le 2,000,000 to the Central One Football Association (COFA).
According to the company's legal adviser, Martin Michael, this donation is part of Mercury's support for the just commenced U-14 league.
Michael who also doubles as the company's secretary said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility, whether the company made profit or loss, to assist sporting organizations.
He said it was a good cause for them to take such responsibility to help associations that are doing their best to develop football in the country.
"For us, it is not the value of the donation that is important. It is the ability to do it. There are other companies that are making more money than Mercury but they failed to help such organizations," Michael said.
He noted that the company has also made such donations and sponsorships to the national team, Leone Stars, blind school, the deaf, churches and others.
